Boomathon - Overview and signing in
DRAFT REVIEW NOTE - delete before publishing: This is the first public article about Boomathon. Please check the product description in the first paragraph against your marketing wording, and confirm that partners should be told the Jenson8 staff view exists (currently only one neutral sentence).
Boomathon is Jenson8's large-group Boomerang event format. Participants play Boomerang in their web browser through Jenson8-managed streaming, in teams of up to 12, across one or more scheduled sessions. Teams earn teamship scores across six qualities, contribute to a shared Event Mission block target, and can post to a shared Knowledge Board. Hosts run everything from the Boomathon portal inside the Jenson8 Dashboard.
Partners now manage their own Boomathon events using their existing Jenson8 Dashboard login. This article explains who has access and how to find your way around.
Who can use Boomathon
- Organisation admins of a partner organisation that Jenson8 has linked to Boomathon. You see only your own organisation's events and sessions.
- Jenson8 staff, who can see every organisation's events in order to provide support.
Ordinary organisation members do not get Boomathon access, and participants never need an account at all. If your organisation would like to run Boomathon events, contact info@jenson8.com.
Signing in
There is no separate Boomathon login. Sign in to the Jenson8 Dashboard as usual (see Creating an account and accessing the dashboard). If you have Boomathon access, a Boomathon link appears at the right-hand end of the top navigation bar, before VR Sessions. Click it to open the Boomathon portal.
Invitations and password resets are all handled by the Jenson8 Dashboard. Any old Boomathon login or set-password links you may have been sent now simply forward you to the dashboard sign-in.
If you sign in but do not have access you will see a No Boomathon access page explaining that "Boomathon is available to organisation admins of partner organisations. Ask your organisation admin or Jenson8 for access."
Finding your way around
The Boomathon header contains:
- Events - your dashboard, titled Your Boomathons. It shows counts of events, sessions live now and upcoming sessions, a Live now card with Observe and Join live buttons for anything in progress, and a card for each event with its status, next or last session date and Mission progress. Filters and search appear once you have more than six events.
- All sessions - a flat list of every session across your events.
- Support - a technical view of every seat, stream and role for live and upcoming sessions. See The Boomathon Support page.
- New event - see Creating a Boomathon event and sessions.
- Your account menu, showing your name, email and organisation, with links back to the VR Dashboard, a Light mode / Dark mode switch and Sign out.
A breadcrumb trail starting "Dashboard" sits above every page. Every Boomathon page, including the participant pages, has Privacy policy and Terms of Service links in the footer.
Light and dark mode
Boomathon uses the Jenson8 dark theme by default. Choose Light mode from the account menu to switch; the choice is remembered in your browser.
Event and session statuses
An event's status is worked out from its sessions and cannot be edited by hand:
- Draft - no sessions yet.
- Active - at least one session is scheduled, has its lobby open or is live.
- Completed - every session has finished or been cancelled.
Sessions show one of: Scheduled, Lobby open, Live, Completed or Cancelled.
