Jenson8 stream credits
Jenson8 stream credits are a separate credit balance used when participants play Jenson8 applications through a web browser via Jenson8-managed streaming (AWS AppStream). This includes every Boomathon event. They sit alongside your existing game credits, which are unchanged: see Overview of the Billing and Credit System.
Standard headset sessions never use stream credits.
How stream credits are used
- One credit per streaming session that starts. Each participant's browser stream uses one credit, and so does each team's facilitator stream.
- Staying on the same stream costs nothing more, however long the session lasts or however many rounds are played.
- A replacement stream only costs a second credit if the first one had already started. A stream that is replaced before anyone opened it is free.
- Moving a Boomathon participant between teams keeps their stream, so a move costs nothing.
- Credits are recorded when a stream starts and deducted by the regular billing run. Each streaming set appears as one line in your transactions, for example "Stream credits: Acme Offsite - Vipers - 14:00 BST x 7", with the reason "Usage".
Where to see your balance
Open your organisation and choose the Billing and usage tab (see Accessing credit transactions and current balance). Below your plans you will find a new Jenson8 stream credits section with your current balance and this explanation:
"Stream credits are used when participants play through the browser (Jenson8-managed streaming sessions, including Boomathon). One credit is used for each streaming session that starts, including the facilitator's. Sessions can't be set up without enough stream credits."
On the Transactions tab, stream transactions are listed with the credit type Jenson8 stream credits. The Balance card at the top of that tab shows your game-credit balance only.
Boomathon setup screens also show a Credits panel with the line "Jenson8 stream credits available: N (one per participant and facilitator)." See Credits for Boomathon.
What happens when you run short
Stream credits are checked whenever people are added, before any streaming resources are created. If there are not enough, the whole change is rolled back and nothing is saved:
- Adding or importing participants to a streaming session shows: "Not enough Jenson8 stream credits: this needs N but only M are available (one per participant, facilitators included). Nothing was added. Top up stream credits and try again."
- A Boomathon roster import is all-or-nothing in the same way, counting both participants and each new team's facilitator seat.
- Boomathon self-registration is refused once the available credits are used up. The participant is not told about credits; they see "Registration for this session isn't available right now. Please let the event organiser know so they can sort it out."
Changes that need no new stream, such as renaming, moving or removing a participant, are never refused.
Your available figure already allows for streams that have been allocated but not yet started, and for seats reserved by Boomathon self-registrants, so the panel tells you what you can still add.
Buying stream credits
Stream credits are issued by Jenson8. To top up, contact us. After a top-up, any Boomathon set-up that was waiting is retried automatically before the session starts, or you can retry it from the host page.
